Last night was dark but not too dark. There were few stars in the sky, and the air smelled fresher. It was already late in the night. There were no voices around except for the chirps of crickets and the movement of air.
Last night, I slept and had a dream; not the type I used to have but one with a warning.
In my dream, it was a bright day with the sun shining so brightly. Yet, the day was slightly chilling. I was sitting by a pool when a very old man suddenly came and sat down beside me.
As if he had been seeking for opportunity to talk to me, he tapped me on my thigh and began to talk,
Son, let me tell you the secret of success in your world. Please listen.
You know, sometimes life doesn't care who you are or how smart you have been. Life would beat you up and even throw you into the garbage bin if you refuse to stand back. One thing we have always done to get ahead in life is to follow the lines of life's weakness – the weak links in the chain of life.
First of all, have a plan – a solid one and a great one.
No matter what happens, your subconscious man will always move you towards your plan. It is this plan that will wake you up, make you sleep and you even dream about it. Son, I mean a grandiose, but make sure it is realizable.
Most people end up as mediocre because their plans are too shallow that they achieve them too quickly.
Rule 1: Believe in Yourself
We all see the same things with our physical eyes, but we see differently in our mind’s eyes. Close your eyes and see (in your mind's eyes) what you could achieve. Whatever the mind of a man can conceive, it can achieve it. For a few seconds, think of yourself and then of your plan.
Belief in yourself is the only driving force that can put you back on your feet when life tries to bully you.
As you think about yourself, think about your creator and what HIS power can achieve through you.
Rule 2: Believe in Your Plan
Still close your eyes. Imagine all the possibilities of your plan and the joy of achieving them in the end. For a split second, imagine the world of difference between the achievement of your plan and not attempting. Definitely, you have no reason to believe in your plan: that's your little baby (and your personally baked cake).
Belief in your plan is what makes you persist through the inevitable trying times.
Rule 3: Believe in God
Here is the supernatural part of your plan. Really, God is the genius in you. He will play HIS role. He will appear when all hope seems to be lost and you are at the end of your rope, at the brink. HE is the ghost that shows you the way through the thickets. HE is the greatest factor in your success; some people wrongly call HIM luck.
Belief in God is that factor that keeps you going when everyone (friends, parents, pastors, well-wishers and enemies) loses faith in you.
Finally, move into action as swift as the eagle. Make sure you start from somewhere. Start where you are. Life would see you like a corn in a bottle.
But I will warn you: Do not get clogged up with your plans and success and then forget what life is really about, the true meaning of life – the dignity of relationship and the power of love.
Humans say, ‘blood is thicker than water'. My son, ‘love is stronger than blood' says the gods.
